Welcome to UHERO's Economic Information Service

UHERO's Economic Information Service is a community-sponsored research program of the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The EIS provides the Hawaii community with information on economic, demographic, and business trends in the State and the Asia-Pacific region. This EIS data portal provides free access to the UHERO library of economic indicators and to recent UHERO public forecast releases. Full reports are available to EIS subscribers and sponsors.

We have a new look—and some new features

Our new site continues to provide the same powerful EIS functionality, but with a cleaner look and some new features. Our "Graphs" view now provides access to all series from a single expandable selection menu. And graphs are now publication quality. There are new "At a Glance" pages summarizing key characteristics of the state and county economies. And there are more options for exporting tables and graphs.

Note that the graphing feature now requires the free Adobe Flash web browser plugin. If you do not see graphs, you can download the plugin here.

How to use this site

The UHERO EIS data portal houses up-to-date statistics on the State, county, and key external economies. Please follow the Tables or Graphs links above to visit the online database. Or for a snapshot view of the state or any of its four county economies, visit the At A Glance link above.

Using the EIS data portal should be fairly intuitive. For an outline of basic functions, see this how to page.

About the data and UHERO

Much of the data reported in the system comes from government data sources. Some originates at UHERO.

UHERO makes no warranty, either express or implied, as to the accuracy or usability of the information in the EIS. We encourage you to report errors and give us your suggestions for improvement.

UHERO's mission is to inform public- and private-sector economic decision-making through quantitative and analytical research with a particular focus on the economies of Hawai'i and the Asia-Pacific region. UHERO provides a forum for interaction between scholars, public policy makers and business leaders on economic policy choices and facilitates the collaborative efforts of UH economists with other scholars. UHERO research associates support this mission by conducting substantive research which is widely disseminated to the public.
